When it comes to explosive fire shows, nothing can dominate the splendid and mysterious fireworks(aurora) put on by our own nature. These Auroras are a natural phenomenon caused by the interaction of solar winds and Earth's magnetic field. They occur almost every day, but can only be seen in certain parts of the world. This is how it is produced: The sun gives out hot solar flares that almost takes two to three days to reach Earth's magnetic field. These flares collides with Earth's atmosphere to charge up the air particles. This highly charged particles when interacting with the oxygen and nitrogen atoms in the Earth's atmosphere, the result is a dazzling light show.
Most recently solar flares originated in sun on 3rd Aug reached Earth on 5th Aug thus creating this splendid lightning(above picture). These light also does appear during day time. But this is probably impossible to see them during day. Latest studies suggests that this can effect surface communication which uses the ionosphere as a reflector to bounce the signals back to Earth.
